New England matched their best victory streak from the Brady period as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the team in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph increases the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's initial series
But the home team answered in the second quarter as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone in the middle of the third quarter to push the score to 21-7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Justin Fields found Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side sealed the victory
