Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Arrive at the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and enthusiasts have discovered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure features a hero that is literally a piece of poop striving to travel to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
How you interact is straightforward: just use a jump control. In one hundred fifty challenges, battle mini-bosses and access a market to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Time your movements precisely, as a mistake means starting over. Bounce using floating orbs to hurl the poop higher, traverse disappearing platforms, and interact with switches to reveal hidden paths. Earn UN-KOINS and use them on more difficult stages as gameplay ramps up.
Graphically, the experience shows off eye-catching environments and an amazing background music. Its minimalist graphics featuring shifting basic polygons evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.
Although hard to name other games where you control a coiled turd, video games have long incorporated fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can create throwables from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content appears extensively in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable accolades, including being named best at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on computers on November 19.
